If it drops below the ideal line, the team may be ahead or work may have been overestimated.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your slides define <strong>velocity<\/strong> as a key Agile metric that measures how much work a team completes during a sprint and helps forecast future sprint capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your slides use <strong>burndown scenarios<\/strong> to interpret sprint progress, including teams being ahead of the ideal line, behind but still reaching the target, flatlining because of blockers, or showing erratic progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Simple teaching explanation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Velocity tells us how much the team usually completes. Sprint burndown tells us whether the current sprint is progressing toward completion.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Example for students:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If our team usually completes <strong>20 story points per sprint<\/strong>, we should not plan 45 story points for the next sprint.
