Raw Data<\/li>\n<li>Independent data mart: A small data warehouse specific to one topic\/area\/subject<\/li>\n<li>Extraction: Extraction of data from operational systems<\/li>\n<li>Extraction Store: Data storage after extraction<\/li>\n<li>Transformation and cleansing: Before putting data into the central\/main warehouse data needs to be cleaned up<\/li>\n<li>Extraction log: Create a log in the transformation and cleansing process<\/li>\n<li>External source: Data originated outside the organization is also incorporated into the data warehouse.<\/li>\n<li>Data administrator: The person who ensures the quality of data<\/li>\n<li>Central Repository: Stores all data and meta-data<\/li>\n<li>Meta data: Data about data. Example: the extraction log.<\/li>\n<li>Dependent Data Mart: Relies on the data warehouse for the sources of its data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Distributed Data Warehouse: Warehouse data is physically distributed across a company&#8217;s information infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li>Data mining types: classification, and estimation.\n<ul>\n<li>Classification: categorize customers,<\/li>\n<li>Estimation: predict or estimate some numerical value<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Decision trees: modeling technique helps in deciding. Different alternatives are drawn as paths where nodes represent the selected alternative. edges\/paths may carry some probability values as selection\/influencing criteria.<\/li>\n<li>Neural networks: Try to mimic the work nature of human brain to take a decision.<\/li>\n<li>General modeling: Well-suited for categorizing.<\/li>\n<li>Balanced Scorecard application: views the health and well-being of the organization by more than its financial data. We need to define: Vision, Strategy, Strategic themes, Strategic Objectives, Key performance indicators.<\/li>\n<li>Activity based costing application:<\/li>\n<li>Three types of organizations:\n<ul>\n<li>Engineer driven: They know how to make a product. Than sales it through sales force.<\/li>\n<li>Sales Driven: They know how to sale a particular product, then make the product and sell it.<\/li>\n<li>Customer driven: They Know what customers want, then make the products and sale them.
