The information in the above link helped to switch to privileged mode and then going further into configuring a site to site VPN with Cisco ASA 5505.

CISCO ASA 5505 by default boots into Rommon mode with limited set of allowed commands. You need to be in Privileged mode with full set of commands to configure the router/firewall for advanced customization and purpose. (Please verify this information by yourself)

How did I initially connect the Cisco ASA 5505 for exploring:
Used the ASA Console port (RJ-45 network port). Used a cable with RJ45 connector at one end the other end a COM connector. Used a Serial/COM to USB connector and got a USB port at the other end. i.e The final cable had a network connector at one end, another end was USB (in the middle Serial to USB converter). USB end was connected to a laptop and the RJ45 end was connected to the console port of the ASA 5505.

Software Used:
TeraTeam to have a terminal to connect to and to run router/firewall related commands.
Also, used Putty to connect to and to run commands
You can use either.

When using Putty, select the option Serial for connection (at the right where you see Telnet, SSH, Raw, and …). Also, set the serial connection properties such as 9600 bps baud rate, flow control none, 8 bit data, parity none. In putty, you also need to mention the Serial Port to connect to (COM, in my case it was COM13).

Where to find the ID of the COM port?
Use the device manager to find out. Connect and disconnect to the USB port ( ) the cable as I just mentioned before (the one with Serial/USB converter). You will see one COM port coming/displaying and going/hiding. That One. You may need to install driver for the Serial to USB conversion though.

Note:
Not trying to switch to computer networking career; however, all Computer Science/Engineering majors know some (at the minimum) computer networking ; some pursue it others don’t. For example, with a group of couple of students, I built a computer network in my 3rd year undergraduate, between the two buildings in the university residence. Yes, used BUS topology LAN, and Coaxial cables, did physical cabling as well. For Building to building connections used HUBs and RJ 45 cables ( so far I remember). We had web-servers, email servers, file servers, file and printer sharing and other services in the Intranet. anyway….
